Chemical Heart

Year 7 students have been exploring the Periodic Table. Jordan D. explains:

In Science this term we have learned about states of matter and  elements on the periodic table. This is all under the topic of chemistry.

We learnt about the elements on the periodic and if they are metals, non-metals or metalloids. We also learned that every element has a symbol. For example, Oxygen is O, Gold is  Au, Iron is Fe and Nickel is Ni. We also had a project to do with elements. In this project we had to research a specific element on the periodic table.

We have learnt about chemical and physical reactions. A chemical reaction is a process by which one or more substances, called reactants, are changed into a substance called a product . A physical reaction is a change that is visible to see. An example of this is colour change, bubbles or some other visible change.

Use the periodic to find the symbols for the groups of elements below. Each group should spell a different cartoon character:

Argon, Iodine, Aluminium ____________________

Tungsten, Oxygen, Oxygen, Dysprosium_______________

Tin, Oxygen, Oxygen, Phosphorus, Yetrium _____________________

Oxygen, Scandium, Argon ______________
