Soccer Success
Congratulations to Year 10 student Ginger Oliver on her selection to represent NSW in the Nike Soccer Cup 2017.
This event will take the form of a mass carnival, held over one week commencing later this month in San Diego , USA. Teams come from all over the world compete in this sporting event.
Ginger is the only girl selected from regional NSW and she has been training twice a week in Sydney.
Ginger's commitment to soccer, her chosen sport is a credit to her.
We wish Ginger well as she embarks on the adventure of a lifetime.
Martial Arts Champion
Nicole Lowe-Tarbert loves martial arts. Nicole became a Black Belt in Karate in 2015 and is also a Red Badge (2nd highest rank) in Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing). She competes in a variety of events per tournament such as Kata, Weapons Kata, Freestyle Sparring, Points Sparring, Points Contact, Full Contact Sparring, Sumo, Sword and team demonstrations.
Nicole has been a member of the 2015, 2016 & 2017 AMAC Australian Squads giving her the opportunity to compete in tournaments in Japan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and USA. Earlier this year she passed up the opportunity to compete at the 2017 NZMAC North Island Titles in Auckland as part of the AMAC Australian Squad so that she could compete at 2017 KRMAS Nationals and defend her title as the KRMAS Overall National Grand Champion. Nicole was successful in winning the title for the second consecutive year – she was awarded the 2017 KRMAS National Overall Under 18's Grand Champion Perpetual trophy after placing 1st in six events, 2nd in two events and 3rd place in one event.
This year Nicole was also given the opportunity to compete at the 2017 IFMA Youth World Championships in Bangkok as part of the Muay Thai Australia Australian Squad after placing Silver at the Australian Muay Thai Championships.
Just last month Nicole won a Commonwealth State Title competing against Wing Zing of Thailand at the International World Kickboxing Federation (IWKBF) Showdown 4 held at Dee Why on 21 October 2017.
To achieve this level in her chosen sport, Nicole dedicates three to four days every week to travelling to Orange to train. Nicole will be attending the AMAC Australian Titles in December where she will be competing to qualify for the 2018 AMAC Australian Squad.
