Sub Schools

Junior Sub School

The beginning of the end.

We have come to the end of the year and, as this edition of the Melton Mail is being compiled, we are in the process of several important tasks:

  • Reviewing Selectives for the 2017 Year Eight students
  • Constructing the Year 7 classes for 2017
  • Revising the Year 8 and Year 9 class lists ready for 2017
  • Writing the end of semester reports
  • Reviewing the assessment results to see who will automatically go to the next year level
  • Run the enrolment process and Orientation Day for incoming Year 7 students
  • Reviewing curriculum for next year
  • Continuing to teach our classes

On Tuesday 6th December, our new 2017 Year 7 students visited us for a full school day. The day included a wide variety of activities:

  • Lessons in a variety of subjects including PE, English, Visual Arts and ICT
  • Lunchtime activities: Festival for Healthy Living: circus skills and Planet Shakers
  • Two assemblies

We look forward to working with our new Year 7 students and their parents/caregivers, along with our Year 8 families next year.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and happy New Year and a wonderful holiday break.

Middle Sub School

It has been an exciting year for our Year 9 and 10 students where they have participated in activities such as sports days, work experience, Year 10 formal, Year 9 camp and has finished with the Year 10 students completing their Headstart into their Year 11 subjects.

It has been a pleasure seeing our Year 9 and 10’s grow over the year and become fine young adults and we look forward to seeing them continue on their school journey next year.

We look forward to seeing all those award winners from the Middle School at the Awards Night receiving their well deserved awards.

I thank all of you for the support that you have shown your teachers, Mr Hill, Ms Keep, Ms Mace, Ms Kershaw, Mr Rodgers and Ms Bewley this year. Our Team has done a mountain of work both directly with you and also behind the scenes to make the Middle School experience happen for you! I also thank the students for their efforts and positive contributions they have made over their time in the Middle School. For the year 10 students there will be a change of environment as you enter the Senior School; you will be taught in many different locations, have many different teachers and work in classes with many different students. I wish all of you well as you continue your journey through this great school. Have a safe and Merry Christmas.

Senior Sub School

Congratulations and Farewell

Our Year 12 students finally received the long-anticipated notification of their ATAR scores last week. We are very proud of all the students who persevered with their education and completed their Senior Certificates. There were some exceptional individual results that I am sure families are particularly proud of. I would like to make special mention of two students: Brianna Argall obtained an outstanding result of 47 for Biology and Taylor Kershaw became the 2016 Dux of the College.

I would like to remind all students finishing at Melton Secondary College this year that our Careers and Pathways Team are available to you for the remainder of this year and next year. Please use their expertise if you need any assistance in finding suitable further education, training or employment opportunities.

The Senior Sub-school would like to wish all students and families a happy and relaxing holiday. We would especially like to wish our Yr 11 Co-ordinator, Sophia D’Ambra, a most successful future as she moves to Sydney to take up a position with Teach for Australia. Her contributions to the sub-school, her classes and to the school over the past three years are very much appreciated. Her concern for individual students and their progress has been outstanding.
