Relationship Day Reflection
by Chris Melhem (Chang 6)
As the third term came to a close, the Year 11 students participated in the annual Relationship Day. The day began by students branching off to their respected genders where we were fortunate enough to spend the day participating in an array of activities such as group quizzes, games involving the whole student cohort, group & individual reflections and above all, the opportunity to hear Paul, Emma and Gerard’s stories. They shared their past experiences with love, sex and relationships and conducted their presentation in a manner that was engaging, relatable, inclusive and primarily, they were completely open and honest with us. We learnt many things about relationships, portrayal of men in the media, sexual relationships and various aspects that surround it. Paul, Emma and Gerard were fantastic and opened our eyes to a new perspective and I'm sure I speak on behalf of the entire student body when I say we thoroughly enjoyed the day and there certainly was a lot to take away from their presentation.
"As the school year is nearly ending for Year 12s across the state. The Year 12 Chang Cluster was given an opportunity to reflect on their time here at Catholic Regional College Sydenham for the past two years. We started the event by first reflecting on the crosses and symbols we created over the two years as we journey on our final years of study. We reflected on the first symbol, we created from Year 11 Transition Day and to our final symbol which was created on that very day. As we looked past these symbols, it serves as reminder as to how far we have developed as a person over these two years. In the following session, we were given the time to reflect on the times we shared as a Cluster together as well as the people within our Home group. Each person were given a paper, where other people from the Cluster signed messages of encouragement and good luck for the future as they reach a new stage in their life. Overall, this day was definitely a success and I wish all Year 12s the best for the future ahead of them."
