News from the The Careers Space
Our Year 12 students are back on campus preparing for exams and the next steps after Secondary school, a very busy time with many emotions, lots of work, exciting opportunities, and a few nerves about what to do in the future. This Year 12 cohort should be especially proud of their resilience to get through the last two years and although it is possibly hard to see right now there will be good things to come from this time.
I have been and will continue working with our Year 12 cohort to support them to explore choices and make decisions about further education at TAFE and University, Apprenticeships, Traineeships, and employment.
This support doesn’t stop when you leave school, the support is still available to all students after they finish Year 12, we all really enjoy hearing and supporting past students who remain a part of our community.
Year 11 Students following up from my emails and Compass posts when we return to school or before via WebEx, we will be catching up to answer any career pathways questions and get you ready for HeadStart, for a smooth transition to Year 12 in 2022. Please be sure you are checking emails, Compass and reading the Careers News each week to be sure you are aware of interesting events and opportunities.
Other year levels have selected their subjects and electives for 2022, for some students this includes a VETiS subject. As we return to school information about these choices and orientation programs will be coming, so please keep a close eye on your emails and Compass notifications to be sure you don’t miss anything and as always please email me with any questions you may have.

Paramedic Degree Courses in Victoria
The Good Universities Guide states that paramedics provide pre-hospital emergency care, treatment and specialised transport for patients - Good Universities Guide - Paramedic.
Working as an ambulance paramedic means that no two days are ever the same.
What a paramedic does can be as varied as restarting a patient’s heart down to helping solve social welfare issues. Ambulance paramedics are called when people feel they have no other options and are suffering what feels like an emergency to them. An interesting fact to remember when applying to become a paramedic is that the majority of the workload is not lights and sirens driving to save a patient's life. This job is more about helping people in their time of need as opposed to being a hero.
