SACSA Netball

Last Friday Good Shepherd gathered a team of 11 students to play SACSA netball. They played against 5 teams winning 3 matches and only losing 2.

There were two divisions with 5 teams in each division, and 8 minute quarters were played. Good Shepherd made the playoff for 5th vs 6th and won. It was a really enjoyable day and everyone gave their best.

Thanks to Mrs Hart for coordinating this event.

It was really good for our students to represent the school and we’re proud of the spirit in which the games were played.

Sports Results

U8 GS Magic

After starting Term 4 with two losses, the GS Magic returned to their winning ways this week with a 16-4 win.  The Magic put in a complete team performance that included 5 different scorers.

Shaurya and Eden dominated the rebounds, Tennyson and Tyler again performed some great steals and Jonte’s speed up and down the court was unmatched.

Scorers: Jake, Jonte and Shaurya (4 pts each), Eden and Layla (2 pts each).

Year 2/3 GS Rockets

The GS Rockets had a solid 20-0 win over Golden Grove this week.  Despite the final score, the opposition applied plenty of defensive pressure and the Rockets had to work hard for their baskets.  An injury early in the game meant we had no subs.  Well done to Oscar, Lorenzo, Downey, Blake and Rhys who basically all played the entire game without any break.

Scorers: Oscar (10 pts), Lorenzo (4 pts), Jayden, Rhys, Blake (2 pts each).

Year 5/6 GS Shooters

It was another epic and exciting game to watch this week when the GS Shooters took on the top team from King's Baptist. We started off well but then the opposition took charge, giving themselves a 10 point lead.

By half time we had managed to get within 4 points and our team discussed the need to foul less and be more available for teammates passes.

Going into the second half, the Kings Thunder advanced their lead but our team was more controlled and were working together better. The GS Shooters had us sitting on the edge of our seats with anticipation as they took control of the game and were 1 point in front with 4 minutes to go! Both teams wanted the win as the lead kept changing.

The final result, a draw! Our team walked away feeling like winners because they all played so well. Awesome job team!

Scorers: Alistair (12 pts), Dhairya (8 pts), Blake (2 pts), Vishwas (2 pts) and Wian (2 pts).

U9 GS Champs

The team had more pep in their steps on Monday. Skills of passing and defending are coming along well. The girls had lots more opportunities to score this week due to good runs from centre to  goal circle. Well done girls.

Goal scorers Zeyna 1 and Chloe 1.
