Visual Arts

Year 8 & 9 VCD

I congratulate Mrs McKay and her talented Visual Communication and Design students on an impressive term's work. It is challenging starting new electives, without the added complexity of a remote setting. It is clear from these shots that they grasped complex drawing skills, producing these incredible One and Two-Point Perspective images. Take the time to zoom in, there is incredible detail in some of the work. Maybe one will be an online exhibition award winner? Who knows? What is certain, is how proud we are of our students and the continued effort they have shown to complete some truly incredible work in Art, VCD and Photography.

The Year 7 students have just completed a thematic Zine and the Year 8 Art classes some Banksy inspired stencil pieces. You will have to wait to see those in the exhibition, but they too are AMAZING!

Year 7S Art

Year 7S had the pleasure of working with a placement teacher for a few weeks, who challenged them to create abstract sculptural forms that could transcend scale and become monumental, if outdoors. This was a very quick task, just a couple of hours, but it is clear they grasped the idea, learning a little about town planning and budget requirements for public art, at the Docklands for example. Here are some of their fun pieces ‘on site’.

Happy and Safe Holidays

The Visual Arts faculty wishes our Aitken community a happy, well-earned break. The holidays are a time for students to rest, or study if in VCE. They afford us a little extra time for family and reflection. Until Term 4, stay safe.
