Senior Years and Wellbeing

Pastoral Care

Each week we will be challenging the students on a health and wellbeing area.

In assembly last Wednesday, the students were encouraged to think about ways they could maintain connections. I am certainly missing their smiles and their energy, and I know they must be missing each other.

They were challenged to facetime family and friends each day. To be in touch with a different class mate throughout the week and to stay involved in the household as much as possible.

This week we have introduced a “Virtual Recess” where once a week the students can log on in their year levels just to chat with each other.

This week the challenge is maintaining physical activity. Students in Year 7-10 will still have their regular physical education lesson where they have been asked to keep a log of their activity throughout the week. Ideally, we would love every student to spend time outside every day and to be exercising for 60min. This could be a walk a run or even a bike ride. We have deliberately introduced a 15 min break between each remote lesson. It is important that each student stands and moves during this time. They could even try counting 200 steps before sitting down again. With no organised sport anytime soon, physical activity is more important than ever.

Dr Michael Carr-Gregg and Mrs Susan Maclean who have both presented at the College, will be hosting a webinar on Monday April 27th at 7:30pm. The title of their webinar is ‘Keeping Young People Safe in an Intense Digital Climate.’ $11 per ticket.
