Kindergarten

Identity

This week in kinder many of the children have been exploring shape, colour, pattern and design through many different mediums.  Some children have been enjoying clay, making cocoon-like shapes representing dinosaurs hatching out of eggs.  Others have been exploring circular patterns with paper and paint, printing and drawing.

This week we also continued exploring the concept of identity, and how important it is for even our youngest children to be able to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution they bring to the kinder community.  Recognising how different and unique we all are, is the first place we can start with children in developing healthy self-esteems and self-confidence.  Our Classroom Agreement, developed by the children themselves, supports the idea of acknowledging our individual uniqueness, and how important kindness, courage and respect are as an integral part of our kinder day.
