Library

Welcome back (and welcome):
It has been wonderful to meet our new students on both campuses this week and to welcome our returning friends back to school. Term 3 is usually seen to be a more focussed term as the cold weather encourages indoor activities and the VCE students start to realise the proximity of their end of year examinations.
Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge:
I am so impressed with the number of books students are listing, and the increased participation across the Junior School. Late last week the website published a notice to all participants:
“Consent forms are no longer required as there is no online honour roll for 2019 PRC”.
This means that all we will ask of you is that you advise the relevant teacher that your reading student has read the books that are listed. Once we are made aware of this we will verify all the books listed and your child will receive a certificate if they have met the requirements.
To date the top 5 at each level at Myrniong includes:
Prep: Angus, Sonny, Tommy, Henry and Johnny;
One: Ruby, Aida (rest of class on 45);
Two: Else, Rhiognach, Sophie, Poppy and Evie.
Three: Harley, Kierun, Lachlan, Amelie (rest on 3).
Four: Alison, Ruby, Millie, Will and Tom.
Five: Evie, Belle, Dougal, Matilda and Sophie.
Six: Olivia, Sophie M, Emma D, Hugh F and Jack J.
There is a small number of Senior School participants with books listed. Well done to those students.
Library Staffing:
As advised in Dr Hirst’s Term 3 letter, I will be on long service leave for the second half of the term. Mrs Erin Parker will be covering most of my workload. I welcome her to the team and will appreciate her input to our Library.
We also eagerly await the arrival of Mr Jarran Cook, who will be picking up Mrs Elisha Nettleton’s role for the rest of the year.
Keep on reading – to your students, with your students and in front of your students!
Best Wishes,
Margaret Simkin
