Associate Principal, Operations Report

Staffing

We are enjoying having Mrs Joy Craig back at the College!  Mrs Craig is looking after Mrs Jody Ogle’s classes for the first three weeks of the term whilst Mrs Ogle enjoys some Long Service Leave.   Mrs Ogle will be back for the fourth week of term – ie, she returns after Sheepvention.

Sheepvention is the time when we expect Mr Jarran Cook to arrive.  Mr Cook is  a local who has been in the United Kingdom for the past year or so and he is looking forward to introducing his wife to Western Victoria where he grew up.  Mr Cook takes over many of the duties held by Mrs Nettleton in Semester One; he will also relieve Miss Budenberg of the Year 9/10 Pathways elective Business Management class.  Miss Budenberg agreed to take that class on in addition to her normal load and was willing to relinquish it when she learned of Mr Cook’s experience in the UK, teaching in the Commerce area.  We hope that there will be a more substantial load for a teacher of commerce in the new year and look forward to welcoming Mr Cook to the College.

With the arrival of a couple of new young students from overseas, we have created a class for English as an Additional Language for several current and new Year 8 students.  Mr Julien Guez and I will share this class, Mr Guez moving from assisting Miss Hodge with the senior EAL students into this position.

Later in Third Term, Mrs Margaret Simkin will also take a number of weeks Long Service Leave.  Mrs Erin Parker, who took some classes last year in a similar replacement role, will take on Mrs Simkin’s roles in the library and with her class.  In addition, Mrs Simkin has advised she will keep an eye on progress from afar!

Planning for 2020 is already underway – with advertisements for replacements for previously notified departures already lodged -  and we look forward to providing information regarding arrangements for the new year in due course.
