Open Day/Discovery Night Success!
On Wednesday 27th March we held our Open Day/Discovery Evening for our future Wantirna College families. It is always a real pleasure taking tour groups around the College throughout the day so that they can see for themselves the great things that are happening within our school. Families regularly made comments on the positive things that they had heard about Wantirna College and the younger primary school students were excited by all the amazing opportunities that our school provides.
This excitement continued into our Discovery Evening where there was a real ‘buzz’ around the College. Parents and students were able to participate in a range of activities and exhibits from all of our Learning Areas, were entertained by our Performing Arts students and were well fed by our Food Studies students. Events like Open Day/Discovery Evening are a wonderful opportunity for our community to share with others the wonderful things that are happening within our school.
During Open Day/Discovery Evening we clarified to our prospective families that Wantirna College does not have a zone and we do take enrolments from outside our immediate area. We are even looking at increasing our year 7 intake for 2020. A key message was that if Wantirna College is the school that you would like your child to attend, place us as your first preference.
Tours of our College will continue on a Tuesday and Thursday at 9.30am and we would encourage all prospective families to come along and see us in action. Tour bookings can be made via the College Website.
Parent Teacher Student Conferences
Last week families would have received their child’s Interim Report via Compass. The purpose of the Interim Report is to provide families with some feedback on how often students are demonstrating positive learning behaviours in class. The Interim Reports, along with the feedback that students receive on their Learning Tasks can be used to inform conversations at the Parent Student Teacher Conferences.
Parent Student Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday 2nd April between 12.30 – 8.30pm. There will be no scheduled classes on this day, however, students are required to attend their conferences with their families. This is a great opportunity for the student, family and teacher to work in partnership and reflect upon the students’ progress in Term 1 and to plan for future learning.
Bookings for Parent Student Teacher Conferences can be made via Compass.
Term 1 Break
As we come to the end of a busy and exciting Term 1, we would like to remind families that students will be dismissed from the College at 2.30pm on Friday 5th April.
On behalf of the College, we would like to wish all students and families a restful holiday break and look forward to seeing students back in classes on Tuesday 23rd April.
