Music News from Ms Sharmila

Next Thursday the 7th of November from 11.30am-12.30pm, we are having an African Drumming Group visit us called "Rhythm of Life." The students will be in for a treat as they hear from them and participate in some music making. Parents are welcome to attend, as afterwards our school will sing a song we've been learning together as part of the 'Music Count Us In' initiative. Here is some information from the group:

"Our interactive performances feature the djembe hand drum, dun dun bass drums, balafon (African xylophone), traditional song and dance, with colourful African costumes. We also discuss the important role of music and dance in the everyday life of West Africans. Our performances are suited to students of all ages and abilities, and are highly interactive involving all students with African singing and dancing, and some students playing the drums and shakers with us."

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Year 1/2 Incursion

Tomorrow, the 1/2 level will be participating in an incursion on their subject 'energy.' They will be learning how to build their own billy push-carts. This is to further their understanding of energy and what makes things move. The incursion will be run by a company called Craftpower. We look forward to seeing how their billy push-carts turn out. Happy building!
