Principal's Message

A Message from the Principal

Welcome to Week 4

It is hard to believe we are nearly half way through Term 3.

If you have been up to the school lately you will have seen the demolition works are well underway. The children are to commended on the way they are approaching and handling this building project. As I walk past rooms I see the children continue to remain focussed on their work and learning despite any noises that might be coming from outside.

A reminder that the side pedestrian gate on Ferntree Gully Road is now open, before and after school.

Confirmation

Yesterday I accompanied our Year 6 students to the Confirmation Reflection Day at Lystrefield, with students and staff from Christ Our Holy Redeemer and Sacred Heart. The day was led by staff from both schools. The children rotated through four activities; Actioning Our Faith, Spirit-Filled People,  Art - Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit and Scripture Lectio Divina. It was a little fresh, weather wise but the children were able to get outside during the breaks to enjoy some exercise and share in a game or two.

This component of the program was contemplative and a wonderful opportunity for our children to reflect on the purpose and significance of receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

These candidates will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation  on the 21st and 22nd August. I would ask that you keep these children in your prayers over the coming weeks.

ALTAR SERVERS REQUIRED - We are looking for any students or family members who would be willing to be an altar server at either of the Confirmation ceremonies. Could you please let the office know if you are able to assist? Thank you.

School Closure Day

A reminder that TOMORROW, Friday 9th August is a school closure day. Our staff will be off-site for a professional development day with the focus being on the faith formation of staff.

Parents Association

I would like to draw your attention to the Parents Association page in this fortnight's newsletter. There are some great reports and photos from the Grandparents and Special Friends Day, The Coon Toastie Day, the purchasing of new resources as well as information regarding the upcoming Trivia Night.

Rubbish Free Lunches

It was terrific to see a large number of children come to school yesterday with rubbish-free lunches. We acknowledge that this can sometimes mean more work for parents. We thank you for your efforts in working with us to help our children better understand the importance of looking after our earth and reducing landfill.

100 Days of School

100 DAYS OF SCHOOL

By: Prep P 2019

On Tuesday 30th July, the Preps celebrated their 100th Day of School.

We celebrated this wonderful milestone over two days with lots of fun activities all about 100.

We made crowns which we proudly wore during our celebrations.

We loved all the activities like painting 100 gumballs, working together to paste 100 faces onto a chart, constructing a structure using 100 cups and making an artwork using exactly 100 stickers.

Our teachers and families are so proud of us… Now, we are 100 days smarter!

CDF Pay is Here!
