Prayer

At times like this, being scared and worried can sometimes feel like the new normal. But in these challenging days there’s also so much hope and goodness to be found. We have seen children spending their pocket money to buy groceries for their elderly neighbours, people singing happy birthday from one balcony to another, the Good News Movement in Italy, who are projecting music videos and black and white films (Ginger and Fred) onto buildings, fitness instructors hosting roof top sessions, carbon emissions are down, the waterways are cleaner, warfare across the world is diminished. There is a rejuvenation of the sense of what community really means - a social cohesion. Facebook has the Kindness Pandemic, instead of trolls and bullying. Gin distillers are making hand sanitiser, and businesses are thinking outside of the box. There is a sense of corporate responsibility, with the donation of money, food and medical supplies and working together to keep their staff employed.
Home-schooling is becoming the new way of learning and exposing many of our parents to what and how their daughters learn. Teachers are innovating and digitising and students are self-leading and exploring and enquiring. And so, today, we thank God for the gift of life, for the breath that sustains it, for the food of this earth that nurtures it and for the love and care of those around us, without whom there would be no life.
Amen
