Message from Brea Terris

Dear ETRS Community,

Hope you are all well in this ever-changing environment. I just wanted to let you all know that I have decided to continue in the acting principal role at Swan Hill North PS until October next year. This was a very hard decision for me to make, but one I needed to make for our family. My plan is to return to Twin Rivers in October next year.

I hope you are all well, Term 3 remains face to face to learning and the Dees keep having a great season.

Curriculum Day / Pupil Free Day - Monday 30 August. No students are required at school on this day. Our staff will be learning about Professional Learning Communities, SWPBS and more.

Foundation 2022 Enrolments

All enrolment documents are available to download from our website. You may also contact the school and we can send the information to you via email or the post.

If you know of any families who are interested in enrolling, please ask them to contact the school. Thank you to our families who are getting the good word out in the community about our school, word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising and consequently, we are fielding an increased number of inquiries about our school.

Unfortunately, until the health advice changes, we are unable to do school tours. Fingers crossed; this changes soon.

Athletics Day / School Sports

What a thrill it has been to participate in sports days at ETRS. As we haven’t been able to do this for such a long time, everyone was feeling excited and extremely happy to be outdoors and competing. The oval was a flood with colour and laughter. Netball with 5 / 6 was a success. Make sure you ‘check out’ the photos in this week’s edition.

Interschool Athletics

Our students will be participating in the Interschool Athletics Day next week. Our Grade 5/6 students will be competing on Tuesday 24 August and our Grade 3/4 students will be competing on Wednesday the 25 August. Notes have been sent home about the events outlining what is needed. Permission can also be provided via the permission note on Sentral. Students are expected to wear our school polo top and bring plenty of water, food, hat and sunscreen. We wish our students the best of luck.

Unfortunately, parents/carers are unable to attend or spectate at these events due to the current COVID restrictions.

Girls Footy Day

Our team of Grade 5/6 footballers are heading down to Rochester today to compete against local schools and demonstrate their prowess on the football field. We look forward to hearing about their day when they return later on this afternoon.

Book Week Celebrations

Our annual Book Week will be celebrated next week. We will be encouraging all students and staff to embrace this iconic school event next Friday 27 August by dressing up as a favourite book character. It will be a paired down event with restrictions preventing us from having a whole school parade. And once again, unfortunately parents cannot attend the event which is disappointing. Our teachers will ensure lots of photos are uploaded to the School Facebook page and ClassDojo.

Department Newsletters

Department Newsletters will be coming home next week. These newsletters provide an overview of what’s happening in classrooms across the school. It also has a lot of valuable information about class routines, special events and ways of supporting your child’s learning.

National Science Week

This week is National Science Week and there have been many budding scientists exploring the world we live in and its mysteries. Our students have been engaging in a range of experiments this week discovering and expanding their curiosity about the wonders of science. You might like to try some science activities at home. The school theme for National Science Week 2021 is Food: Different by Design. It honours the United Nations International Year of Fruits and Vegetables and the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development. Food and cooking are the basics of chemical science.

Attitudes to School Survey Data

The Attitudes of Survey results are in, and our Student Council Leaders have become the drivers of change. They are leading the discussion with their classes, analysing the results, and exploring what the data story is telling us. From this, they will be working with their classes and our staff to develop goals to work on over the next 12 months. This is a significant shift in the way we are using student voice and agency to aid positive cultural change.

Drop Off and Pick-up

Please make the drop off and pick-up time safe for our community. Parking for ETRS is at the front of the school on Wilkinson Drive or on Campaspe Street. The drive-in / bus zone is for the Specialist School ONLY. Unfortunately. it is not for parents/carers or buses of the Primary school to use. Therefore, we ask that ETRS community does not enter the driveway / bus zone at all.

The school zone is 40km limit with an expectation and law, that we stay at or under this speed limit. This also assists with traffic flow and reaction time for drivers.

Many students, parents, carers and staff cross over Wilkinson Drive each morning and afternoon. Please slow down. Keep us all safe.
