From Our School Leaders

2021 NAPLAN Is In

We have received our 2021 NAPLAN results. Taking into consideration the past 2 years and the interruptions that we have had to our teaching and learning programs, our students have done remarkably well in achieving good results.

National Assessment Program - Literacy And Numeracy (NAPLAN) assess students' knowledge and skills in the areas of literacy and numeracy. The assessments are very carefully crafted and an excellent gauge of teaching and learning across the education systems throughout the country. As you may have heard in the news recently, Victoria topped the results this year.

We particularly want to showcase our reading results as we have been focusing on our Reading practice for the past 2 years. We are extremely pleased with our overall Reading results.

  • 68% of our Year 3 students were placed in the top 2 bands of Reading (well above network schools)
  • 41% of our Year 5 students were placed in the top 2 bands of Reading (similar to network schools)

Our students did very well in 2021 NAPLAN. We are sending home 2021 NAPLAN results this week to all families in Years 3 and 5. Look out for them in the post.

Gratitude Wall

We would like to make a Gratitude Wall in our foyer showcasing all of the things we are grateful for, and we would like all of our families, students and staff to participate in this Gratitude collage.

You may take a photo, write a thank you, pen a poem, make a list or write a card of the things in your life that you are grateful for. Think big or small, as there is no right or wrong when practising gratitude.

Gratitude is something that we need to practise, as it is a skill we develop over time.  It is one way to bring joy and happiness into our lives. It does not solve all of our problems, however it does make us recognise that we do have a lot to be thankful for; in our day to day lives, we take many things for granted.  Gratitude can help us adjust our mindset, think of others and not dwell on the problems and negatives.

Please send your Gratitude Collage contributions to Sue at Susan.hartley@education.vic.gov.au

Works Around The School

The shade sail work over the senior playground has been completed and the safety pads (for all shade sails) have finally arrived. We are also in the middle of renovating the shade structure and seating outside the kitchen garden. The shade house has been re-designed with a new closed roof being added, some seating replaced and repainted to fit in with the hall.

Last Newsletter For The Term

As this is our last newsletter for the term, we would like to sincerely thank families for their support and efforts this term. It has been an incredible collaborative effort by all, and we are grateful for your input, interest and assistance in Remote Learning Term 3.  It has challenged many of us.

We are still waiting for the return-to-school plan to be announced, but we are hopeful that we can return to on-site learning next term. Our collective fingers are crossed!

We have made another video for you to enjoy! This one is “Get Back Up Again” from the 'Trolls' movie. Have a look at all of the things that our fabulous SPS staff do that helps us get back up again!
