Student of the Week Awards Presented 27/8/21
These awards were presented at the whole-school Webex assembly on Friday 27th August.
Aston L. - 00L
This award goes to Aston for the amazing effort he put into his visualisation drawings this week. Aston used lots of colours and details to show what he pictured in his head when listening to our poems this week. Aston you are a Scoresby superstar!! You should be very proud of all your work.
Jacob E.- 00N
Jacob is to be congratulated on displaying the GEM value Acceptance during Remote Learning. Jacob arrives at each Webex meeting with a huge smile and a ready to learn attitude. Congratulations Jacob, we are all very proud of you. You are a Scoresby Superstar!
Amir S. - 1/2D
Amir is receiving this award for working incredibly hard during remote learning this week, individually and in small groups. Each morning, Amir has been one of the first to comment on our class’ daily question. He also submitted a fantastic piece of maths work, showing how he divided lollies into separate lolly bags. Amir, your enthusiasm during remote learning has been wonderful to watch. Congratulations – You’re a Scoresby Superstar!
Harmony C. - 1/2F
Harmony is receiving this award for being a remote learning superstar. She has a positive attitude to her learning, always joins Webex meetings on time and is ready to actively contribute. During her reading group this week, she read with fluency and was able to describe different character traits. Well done, Harmony! Keep up the great work!
Jesse W. - 1/2K
For settling into a new school and classroom so well. Jesse has quickly picked up the routines of our classroom. He completes all of his work to the best of his ability and demonstrates our Scoresby HEART values at all times. Well done Jesse, we are so glad you came to join our class.
Torres L. - 3/4C
The 3/4C award goes to Torres for the effort he has demonstrated in his small reading group this week. Torres spoke about what has happening in his book in great detail and compared his book to the TV show, noticing the differences and similarities between the two. Well done Torres!
Edel T. - 3/4E
Edel wakes up each day with a great ‘can do’ attitude. This has been evident throughout remote learning where se has been displaying the HEART value of excellence, taking pride in all that she does. This week Edel has been writing a narrative called ‘Parrot to the Rescue!’, where she began her story with a bold beginning. Starting with dialogue and action, I was hooked in and wanted to read more straight away! Edel, your ideas are always so interesting and wonderful, you should be so proud of yourself. I know I am! Keep shining bright, you are a star.
Leah H. - 3/4S
Leah is congratulated on explaining how an author has created the mood in a story. Leah used words in the text to identify how characters might be feeling and linking this information with the description of the setting. She made connections to her own experiences and explained the overall mood and feeling of a given situation. Well done Leah, this can be a tricky thing to learn and you have done very well.
Blake C. - 5/6B
Blake attends all Webex meetings with a smile on his face and has enjoyed working in breakout rooms with his peers. In his reading group, Blake eagerly participates, reading to the best of his ability. He always offers his thoughts and ideas while making inferences about character traits and emotions. Keep up the great work Blake!
Anneka G. - 5/6M
This award is presented Anneka for showing excellent leadership skills in her role as our Scoresby HEART Captain. Anneka takes her role very seriously and as well as displaying our HEART values herself she encourages them in others, especially the younger students. Anneka, is a kind hearted student who always tries her best and it is a pleasure being her teacher!!

For actively participating in her reading group sessions and completing all set tasks to a high standard. During her reading group sessions, Christine engaged with her peers and shared her thinking about the different connections that she could make to the text. She also completes all of her set tasks to a high standard and takes on the feedback given to her by her teacher. Wonderful effort Christine! Keep up the great work! I am so proud of you!
Sheena L. - Visual Arts
This week during Remote Learning students created a mini-Art Gallery. Sheena researched different artists as inspiration for her work. Impressively she also included wall labels detailing the name of the painting, artist and year it was created. Fantastic work Sheena. Your effort, attention to detail and creativity demonstrated in this Visual Arts task was outstanding!
