Netball Report

Over the past five weeks, several of the Girton netball students had the opportunity to participate in coaching and drill training sessions to improve our skills.

The sessions were run by Melissa Ryan. Melissa has over seventeen years’ experience in the netball industry with a focus on coaching and player development. Her ability to engage people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities has also come from her years of experience around many netball clubs. She has a proven record in building teams from underage to open level, from pre-seasons to premierships. She has expertise in coaching innovation and program development, skill correction and she is a full court specialist. 

Melissa was a positive role model and teacher for us, as coming out of the netball season our skills needed some refining. Melissa helped us improve our shoulder passes, spatial association on the court and footwork. 

We did a range of drills each week concluding in the final week in which we used our knowledge to work together in some gameplay. We all recognised the difference in our play and were so very grateful for Melissa’s hard work preparing us for the 2023 season.

We would like to thank Mrs Tunzi for organising the sessions. We would also like to thank Melissa for the amazing opportunity and her guidance, and we hope it can continue next year.

Girton Netball Awards

Girton Netball Club held its presentation afternoon the last week in Term 3. Awards were presented to all recipients by coaches, who recapped on a great season. The season saw five teams compete in Finals, with two teams successful in winning their respective Grand Finals.  Congratulations Diamonds Section 3, Silver Sect 2B.
