Welcome to the Library in 2023
This year the theme for Australian Book Week is "Read, Grow, Inspire" and we hope to encourage just that this year. We hope you will help foster a love of reading at home as much as we are here at school. All students come to the library each week with their class to borrow books. Please provide a named, cloth library bag for them to carry their library books in. The class teachers will let you know soon, if they haven't already, which days to help your student to remember to bring in their library books for changing over. Please enjoy reading these with them for the younger ones or chatting to your older, independent readers about the books they are reading and why they chose that particular book. This is a great opportunity for communication and will improve their comprehension skills too.
Scholastic Book Club
We will be running the book club again this year and the first issue brochure will be sent home soon via the classrooms. You can look online at the brochure and place orders at: https://www.scholastic.com.au/book-club/book-club-home/ . There are always spare copies of the brochure in the office foyer if needed.
The Book Club is a fun way to encourage reading and benefits our school because we receive a percentage of sales in the form of rewards to buy books for the library and classrooms.
There are two issues per term and it takes about two weeks after the order cut off date which is advertised here in the newsletter for the books to be sent to our school from Scholastic. We then distribute the books to the children's classroom for their teacher to give out to students who have purchased them.
There is no obligation to buy, but we are very grateful for any purchases as this helps us build up our library of books without cutting into our budget.
