Head of Junior Years
Mrs Maria Denholm
It was great to see the Junior Years students back to school for Term 1. As well as introducing our four 2023 Prep classes we also welcomed twenty new students and their families to the College. We pray that you settle in quickly and begin to feel part of the community soon. Students were keen to catch up with their friends and get back into the routine of learning. Many classes have created Essential Agreements about how they will learn best and use the various spaces in the Junior Years.
Meet the teacher sessions
All families are invited to book a time to meet their child’s teacher. These meetings begin on Wednesday 8 February and bookings can be made through the College website. They are an opportunity to share details about your child which may assist their learning in the year ahead. Teachers will also provide you with details about curriculum plans and other useful information. If you require further time to discuss your child’s needs, additional meetings can be arranged. The sessions are held in your child’s classroom.
Junior Year Family Twilight Picnic
The College is pleased to invite you to this annual event which brings together our community for a relaxed evening of connection and fun. Feel free to bring along your own picnic or purchase from the canteen or barbecue. Once again, we will have slushies, soft serve, face painting and the animal petting zoo freely available for the students. The evening is held in the main Junior Years playground from 5:30 – 7:30pm on Friday 17 February.

Writing Essential Agreements
One task which many classes completed at the beginning of the term is to write Essential Agreements. An Essential Agreement is a group of statements which everyone agrees on, which guides how students will use classroom space, show respect to others and the environment and be responsible for their learning. The photos below show a few examples of this from around the Junior Years classes.
Specialist Learning
Our specialist teachers (Art, Music, German and Sport) have met their new students and lessons are underway.
In Art the Year 4’s have been enjoying working in their new space and experimenting with colour mixing.
