Grade 6 choreography for the Graduation Ceremony! :)

F/1:

Following our wonderful Production performances, F/1s have continued to focus on the three main fairy tale stories that we focused on last term:

  • Los tres cerditos y el lobo feroz  (The three little pigs and the big bad wolf)
  • Ricitos de Oro y los tres osos (Goldilocks and the three bears)
  • Los tres cabritos traviesos (The three Billy goats gruff)

The Inquiry focus this term is Digital Technologies, along with the fairy tale stories.

Students have collaborated in small groups to plan their own version of one of the fairy tales, by changing some of the characters or the ending of the story if they wanted. They have been working on creating their own cartoon story on Seesaw, using the Seesaw online tools. This will be how we connect the Digital technologies focus with the fairy tale stories. We have also continued to do dancing Encanto movements to warm up at the start of our lessons. Check out some of our snap shots below!

2/3:

After an eventful Production, the 2/3's Inquiry focus for this term is Digital Technologies. Dance was the main aspect that we have focused on. We have explored various digital technologies and how they can affect a performance. For example, Sounds, Lights, Background displays. Students explored around 8 types of dance: Ballet, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, Hip hop, Pop, Flamenco and Salsa. They got into small groups and chose a type of dance they wanted to focus on, or even a fusion between two types such as 'Hip hop and Jazz' would be 'Street Jazz'. Students have also been selecting a song that would go with their dance choreography. They have been collaborating to create specific dance movements to go with their dance sequences. We are working towards uploading a video of their dance performances onto Seesaw and exploring the online Seesaw tools to add effects such as light, sound and background to make an impact to their performances. Check out some of our choreography in our groups so far!

4/5 students have been selecting an aspect of Performing Arts that they have enjoyed the most. They have had the chance to choose a project of their own choice to investigate and explore in groups or on their own.  They have been focusing on being an Inquirer and a Collaborator by coming up with questions to investigate and explore about their chosen topic and answering them. They will be presenting these at the end of this term. It will be in any form of their choice: PowerPoint, Word, Seesaw, Performances and so on. There are some interesting topics that students have chosen as their Performing Arts Project:

  • Drama skits and Techno robot dance
  • BTS dance choreography
  • History of Star wars music and dance
  • Spectacular Jazz dance (Don't slack)
  • Spectacular puppet Street dance
  • History of Opera
  • History of Broadway
  • History of the architecture of theatres
  • Creating Pop and Hip hop choreography
  • The History of Salsa and a Salsa choreography
  • History of Jazz and Hip hop
  • Producing a song and a dance
  • Many more...

Check out some of project work below!

Grade 6s have been focusing on their graduation ceremony and performances that they will be doing. They have chosen to sing a few songs and play instruments. Students chose a list of songs and artists that they would like to do for a dance choreography. A few songs were selected and mixed together to create an overall song for their Graduation dance performance.  I have had the privilege of collaborating with another dance instructor from Dance Sports Cube to create a whole Grade 6 choreography which they will perform altogether at their Graduation ceremony. In addition, they will be performing 1 or 2 Spectacular dance choreography pieces with the Spectacular dancers from Grade 6 and also a few others that wish to learn the dance to perform it with them as well.              Check out our Grade 6 choreography so far!
