From the Principal

New Beginnings

Well! Here we are at the beginning of 2023 with a new principal, a new edition of the Herald and a new message for the year.

Firstly, I would just like to say that I am really excited to be here at LCS, and I have been amazed at the wonderful sense of community that I find among the staff, students and parents. We really are incredibly blessed to have a school that looks out for each other in this way, and personally I have felt really welcomed and supported by the Leadership Team, the teachers and staff, the parents of the students, and last but not least, the students themselves.

Theme for 2023

This year’s theme for 2023 is “LCS: A Unified and Connected Community”.

How are we unified? Romans 12:4-5 says “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”

Our school needs to always be growing in unity as educators and non-educators. We want unity in our direction and our ability to pull together. We pursue unity in our commitment to excellent Christian education, and most of all, we are unified together in our wholehearted commitment to God.

How are we connected?

John 15:4 says "Live in me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me." Our greatest connection in life should always be to God, in our personal relationship with The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

It seems obvious, but sometimes we forget that our relationship with God requires time and also constant fine tuning. To abide in Jesus means to remain in Him, but it also means to LIVE in Him. It is only out of this amazing connection to Jesus that we can “bear fruit” such as growing in love, joy, peace and the other qualities of Jesus. It is our connection to Jesus provides the foundation to connect with our students, our community, our churches, our families, our support networks, our friends and to the world.

Finally

I am thankful to have joined a school that already has a grounded, established heart for God. This is a beautiful place to be, and I am deeply honoured to step into this role. My hope and my prayer for 2023 is that our unified and connected community - that you and I, can continue to grow as together we seek to serve our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
