Prep 2023 Transition 

Dear Families,

Below you will find detailed information regarding the upcoming Prep Transition sessions, State-wide Transition Day and Parent Information sessions.

Prep Transition Dates 2022

Preparing for next year starts now! We have many plans in the works to help both you and your child be ready for their first day and beyond. These include:

Group Transition sessions (22nd Nov, 29th Nov, 6th Dec)

After signing in at the Gym on Tuesday 22nd November at 9:00am, you will be informed which classroom your child’s Group Transition sessions will occur.  Your child will attend all 3 x 50 minutes Group Transition sessions in the same classroom. For the 2nd and 3rd transition sessions you will need sign your child in at their assigned classroom. If your child is being picked up at the end of the transitions sessions they will need to be collected from the outside door of their assigned classroom at 9:50am sharp.  For those students attending the Hillsmeade ELC on those days, they will be escorted to and from the ELC by their educators at the completion of these sessions.

Your child will be given the opportunity to meet different teachers during the transition program. This will allow them to become familiar with a greater number of Prep teachers in preparation for their start to school. Please note that the classroom your child is assigned to during these transition sessions may not be their assigned classroom in 2023.

Parent Information Sessions (22nd Nov, 29th Nov, 6th Dec)

While your child attends the 3 x 50min Group Transition Sessions, parents are encouraged to attend a series of information sessions facilitated by the school leadership team, providing valuable information about the school and what to expect in the Prep year.  It will also be an opportunity to meet some school personnel and ask questions. These will commence at 9:15am, while your child is involved in the transition sessions.  Student leaders will assist in escorting parents from the Prep classrooms to the Library for these sessions.

State-wide Transition Day (Tuesday 13th Dec)

All future 2023 Prep students attend together on State-wide Transition Day and will meet their 2023 classmates and teacher (where possible).  Please meet at the gym to sign in.  At the completion of this extended transition session, you will receive an information pack with the following details: 

• Your child’s prep teacher and their classroom.
• School commencement date and time.
• 1:1 Meet & Greet date and time (occurring early 2023)
• A letter of welcome by your child’s class teacher.
• Activities your child might like to complete and practise in preparation for starting school.   

Parent Information Evening (Wednesday 7th December)

We will be hosting a Parent Information Evening on Wednesday 7th December from 6:00pm-7:00pm in the Library.  This will provide you with the opportunity to meet the 2023 Prep teachers, the School Leadership Team and other key members of staff that will support your child in transitioning into the school and throughout their Prep Year. Information will also be provided about the school and the year ahead.  We hope to see you there.
