DEPUTY PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS CATHERINE HOWISON - DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

Student Leadership in 2023

There are opportunities for all students to be involved in Student Leadership in 2023 beyond the Captain roles. Every student is invited to join a Student Leadership Committee and there are plenty to choose from - Faith and Mission, Arts, Activities, Academic, LRC, Environment and Wellbeing. Early in Term 1 we will be doing a membership drive for these committees and students can join the group of their choice. Throughout the year they can be actively involved in initiatives around our school and in the community that promote the particular area of their Committee.

Ending on a positive note

Our Year 12 students have officially graduated, our Year 11s are in the midst of their 2023 Orientation Program and our 7 - 10 students can certainly see the end of term on the horizon.

It is really important that all students who are still at school maintain their focus and their application to studies. Students should still be making their best efforts in class, completing assessment tasks and preparing for upcoming exams. It is not acceptable for students to adopt the attitude of ‘it doesn’t matter’ simply because it is the end of the year. While some assessment may well be completed, we are still at school and as such, our behaviour and attitude should reflect this.

In preparation for the completion of classes students can begin cleaning their lockers gradually, they can also return Library books and clean their MacBooks ready for handing in, making sure they remove stickers and personal pictures. Uniform is still required at school and the end of the year should not signal a casual move to wearing PE uniform each day.

Uniforms

Over the holidays students should look to ensure that they have all the uniform items they require for 2023. We will be moving towards better and more consistent wearing of the school uniform in 2023 and are looking for more support from families in this regard.

Year 7 & 8 Activities Days

We are running three Activity Days for our Year 7 and 8 students on December 5th, 6th and 7th. These are compulsory school days, Year 7 and 8 students do not end the Term on December the 2nd. A considerable amount of time, effort and resources go into planning these days and they are always enjoyable. A reminder that we do expect our Year 7 and 8 students to attend on these days.
