ART

Art has kicked off this year with a Pop!

We have started with some bright and colourful POP art drawing through all year levels and learning about colour. F-2 students demonstrated how clever they are learning about primary colours, secondary colours and how we can mix them to create new ones. 3-6 students have started exploring some POP art works and begun creating their own colourful creations.

Look out on our walls soon for some fun Andy Warhol inspired art works!

ITALIAN

Buon Giorno a tutti!

All classes have begun their Italian lessons this term. The Foundation children have enjoyed locating Australia and Italy on the globe as well as a few other countries that their parents may have come from. They learnt that Australia is made up of people from all over the world so learning another language can help us communicatewith others. Foundation children are learning to say Mi chiamo ______ (My name is……). Our favourite activity was glueing different pasta onto Italy which is even shaped like a boot!

Grades 1/2 have made a profile page including their name, age and address in Italian. They have also studied a map of Italy and noticed certain landmarks and popular cities.

Grades 3/4 have made a passport including their photo and information about themselves written in Italian. We also enjoyed playing Connect 4 where each team had to answer a question correctly in order to put a token in the Connect 4 game.

Grade 5/6 are in the process of making a key chain with information about themselves written in Italian. They will present these to the class in a couple of weeks.

STEM

The next few weeks in STEM, we will be focusing on staying safe online. We will be learning all about the three key components of Safer Internet Day - Tuesday 9th February. It is a global event that brings together communities, families, schools and organisations from more than 200 countries to help create safer online spaces.

The key components are:

*Connect safely and with purpose – by keeping apps and devices secure and using social media in positive ways.

*Reflect before we act – by taking a moment to consider how what we do and say online may affect others.

*Protect ourselves and others by taking action – by telling family, friends or colleagues about eSafety and how we can help.

SPORT

This term is already serving up to be a red-hot flier, and not just the weather, with tennis Coach, David from Kyabram Tennis Club coming in to show us how it's done on the court.  This week all classes started their five weeks of tennis lessons, every class participating positively and enthusiastically. It was great to see students refining their forehands, readying for ripper returns, relishing the rallies, running for the balls and recovering from the rays in the shade, sipping from their brand-spanking new St Patricks drink bottles, of course. We beat the heat, had a great time and are looking forward to making a racket next week.

Thank you St Patricks energetic Sport goers, this year is going to be great!
