ANZAC Day Ceremony
Mater Dei Catholic College will be holding a Anzac Day Ceremony on Monday 27 April commencing at 10.30am in the Hall. All parents and especially grandparents are invited to join us.
Founders Day Mass
Founders Day Mass is on next Thursday 30 April in our College Hall at 12.30pm. It is at this Mass that we celebrate and acknowledge the founders of the two religious orders instrumental in bringing Catholic Education to Wagga Wagga from their country of origin, Ireland. Nano Nagle was the founder of the Presentation Sisters and Edmund Rice was the founder of the Christian Brothers. Each of these Founders shared a unique charism, which we wish to share with you on Thursday.
The theme for our Founders’ Day Mass on Thursday is taken from our Gospel – “I will send the Advocate to you” John 16:5-11. We warmly welcome parents and friends of our community to join with us for this significant celebration.
Year 9 Reflection Day
A Reflection Day has been organised for Year 9 Students next Friday. Students are divided into single gender groups and travel to separate venues for the day. The boys’ day is facilitated by Chris Cotter from the Catholic Schools Office and College staff with Year 11 boys leading small group activities. The sessions focus on “Being good men in relationships” and “Being good men in the way we use power”. The girls’ day is facilitated by College Staff, with Year 11 girls leading small groups and Christine Elias, a presenter from Enlighten Education, presenting the sessions that focus on beliefs and values in relation to self-concept, caring for self and friends and protective behaviours.
Reflection days are an integral and compulsory element of the curriculum at Mater Dei Catholic College and therefore all students are required to attend. Permission notes have been handed out and are due by Monday 27 April 2015 to the front office.
Youth Mass
Youth Mass is next Sunday 3rd May at 5.30pm at Sacred Heart Church, Kooringal.
The students from Mater Dei Catholic College help out by getting involved in the readings, music, singing, offertory and the reflection. We will celebrate the 5th Sunday of Easter.
There will be a pizza supper after Mass. All are welcome. This is a great way to celebrate your faith with family and friends as we continue to celebrate the Easter season.
We hope to see you there!
