Take note

Events update

We are currently in the process of reviewing our College events with guidance from Catholic Education Tasmania and the Tasmanian Department of Health.

As expected, a number of our events for Term 1, 2022 have been postponed or cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in Tasmania.

  • It is with regret that we've had to postpone our 'Families on the Green' welcome event, which is usually held in February. Our College community really values this annual event, however protecting the health and safety of our students, families and staff remains our top priority. We are hopeful to reschedule this event at a later date.
  • The Junior School Information Afternoon, planned for Wednesday 16 February, has been cancelled. In place of this event, parents and carers will receive an information package.
  • The Year 7 and New Senior School Parents - SEQTA Information Evening, to be held on Wednesday 16 February, has changed to an online event via Microsoft Teams.
  • The Year 11/12 Big Night In and Year 10 Welcome to Senior Studies Dinner are postponed until further notice.

Further updates will soon follow, so please keep an eye out for a letter officially announcing the postponement of these events in the coming weeks.

Road safety

The safety of all members of the College community is of paramount importance to us.

We kindly ask that parents and carers be mindful of the drop-off and pick-up procedures outlined on our website here

Please note that Harrington Street is a 'no standing' zone and parking officers conduct random checks throughout the day.

Reporting absentees

Parents and carers are asked to notify the College as early as possible (by no later than 8.30am) if their child is absent or will be late to school. The following are options that you can use:

Phone: Student Services Office (03) 6108 2560

SMS: 0437 996 701

Email: stmarys@smc.tas.edu.au

Website: Complete the 'Report an Absence' form online here.

Unexplained absences will be followed up. If a student becomes unwell during the day, parents or carers will be contacted and asked to take their child home.

Is your child leaving during the day?

We understand that on occasions, students may need to leave school during class time. If your child must leave, it is necessary to notify the College. Parents and carers can inform the school, either by a signed diary note, a phone call or via an email to the College.

Students’ diaries must be signed by their teacher at time of leaving and must be presented to the office to sign out. Additionally, diary notes are to be signed by Homeroom teachers if the student is leaving before recess or lunch.

Students, please make sure you always sign in or out at Student Services when you arrive or leave the College during class hours.
