Covid Update

Yesterday there was a number of Covid restrictions lifted for the general community. However for schools the following restrictions are in place. I would like to thank the families who have informed the school of any positive contacts in their household.

QR codes logins are no longer required to enter school grounds or buildings.

Face masks are still required to be worn by students, staff and visitors inside buildings.

RAT's will continued to be made available to families for the remainder of the term.

Assemblies and other gatherings are unable to be implemented until advice from DET changes.

Staffing - classroom teachers

Rob - F/1 E&F

We would like to formally welcome Rob who has replaced Roberto. Rob will be with us for the remainder of this year.

Jacqui - F/1G&H

Unfortunately Jacqui has informed the school she is unable to return to school for the remainder of term 1. We fully understand this has not been an ideal start to the year for the students in her class and we need to support both the children and Jacqui.

For the rest of term one we have arranged for one of our most experienced teachers - Karren to replace Jacqui. I would like to acknowledge and thank her for supporting the F/1 team to provide the Spanish to the students in F/1 G and H.

It was great to see the students wearing their house colours for Specialist day this week.

I think we can continue with this arrangement possibly ongoing for 2022.

So next week it will be great to see students in their house colours.

Dear Families,

We hope that you have had a great start to the year at Newlands Primary School. We want to thank you for your support as we continue to navigate through these extra ‘special’ times.

Next week, students will be allowed to play in different areas of the year during recess and lunch time. While the F/1 students will remain at the bottom oval (McNamara end),  the 2-6s will be allowed to utilise the sensory playground area, basketball court and playground at the top oval (Elizabeth street side).

Just a reminder to all families that during Term 1, all students need to have a hat and a water bottle.

While the school has sunscreen for the students to use before going outside to lunch and recess play, we recommend that students bring their own from home.

If you don’t want your child to use the school’s sunscreen, please contact the school at newlands.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Thanks,Newlands
