On Thursday 3 February we welcomed 43 Kindergarten students to NCS for their very first day of 'big school'. There were lots of excited faces in the morning as students said goodbye to their parents/carers and siblings before heading off with Mrs Longfield and Ms de Kraker and Mrs White to enjoy a range of exciting school activities that were awaiting them in their classrooms. It was a very busy but enjoyable day for everyone!
On Wednesday 2 February, the FISH (Fellowship in School Hours) and Bible Study Leaders met together with Mrs Meek, Mr Petts and Mrs Thompson to discuss plans for the upcoming year. The purpose for the meeting was to outline the ways in which we could best serve the school by sharing God’s word in an efficient and encouraging manner.
We started by looking at God's word, 1 Peter 3:15 - 16 about being able to clearly explain our faith and assurance in Jesus with gentleness and respect. As FISH leaders, we are united in Christ as we all have the same perspectives on what sharing the Gospel is about. It was extremely encouraging to see the energy within the group as we discussed ideas and analysed what worked and didn't quite work from the previous year.
Finally, the leaders attending the meeting were equipped with the skills required to lead bible groups through a talk given by Mrs Donald that addressed ways to encourage children in a safe and respectful manner. In all, the meeting was a great way for the leaders to come together and plan for what’s to be a great year of FISH and bible study.
Please pray for us as we start FISH and Bible studies this coming week.

This year we have launched our brand new school-wide House System. We have moved to three school houses - Nebo, Sinai & Zion!
The House System will not just be limited to sporting events and there will be plenty of house point opportunities across all areas of our school. House buff bandanas: we are proud of the students and want them to also feel proud of being part of their houses. All students have been given a house buff bandana. The expectation is that students will wear these to our official sporting events and there will be incentives for doing so (e.g. bonus points for the house with most students wearing their buff bandanas). There are lots of ways to wear them including as neckerchiefs, scarves, headbands and wristbands.
All students have received their complimentary house buff bandana. Please ensure your child’s name is on their buff bandana to avoid misplacing it. Replacement buff bandanas will be available to purchase online from the school’s uniform shop prior to our major sporting events.
We are excited to see the House System build community, a sense of belonging and house spirit within NCS and are looking forward to a great year of friendly competition between the new houses.
