Music Notes

Welcome to 2022

Nicole Bull, Academic Dean of Performing Arts

I would like to welcome you all back to what promises to be a sensational year in Music and the Performing Arts.

Ensembles and choir rehearsals are underway for the year. Please check KCEE and the Music Notice Board for any updates to the program. I encourage all students learning an instrument to be part of an ensemble or choir.

We would also like to welcome Ms Samantha Kosky as our new Drama Teacher and Director of the Senior School production.

Harmonies for Harmony day - 22 March, 2022

We encourage all music students from Years 7 to 12 to perform! All types of performances are welcome.

If you are interested in performing on Harmony Day, please contact Ms Bull or the School Music Captains.

Friday Afternoon Soirees will recommence from Friday, Week 5. They will be held in PVC7 from 3.45 to 4.30pm.

All Kilvington music, dance, speech and drama students are welcome to perform, as well as students who attend external lessons. All performances must be booked in, either by writing your name and details of your performance on the Friday afternoon soiree forms pinned up on the Notice Board in the Music Building foyer, or by emailing Ms Carmel Slater (Head of Keyboard and Theory) at slaterc@kilvington.vic.edu.au.

Items should be no longer than 3 - 4 minutes, with a maximum of twelve items per soiree.

Kadenza beginner band

I would like to encourage any new students to the School and the Year 5 Band program students from 2021 to join the band.

Kadenza is a concert band aimed at students who have been learning music for less than two years.  Students are assisted with their playing by  Music Mentors from Senior levels. The band rehearses each Thursday from 3.45pm to 4.30pm in PVC7.

All students are welcome to attend. Rehearsals will begin this week. Please contact Mr Chris Higgins for further details at higginsc@kilvington.vic.edu.au

Student achievements in music

Student Achievements is a regular segment in our ITK newsletter. Please let the Music Department know of any student achievements in performing arts such as a performance in an Eisteddfod, dance competition, a part in a dramatic play or a performance in the wider community.

Please contact the Music Department at music.admin@kilvington.vic.edu.au.
