It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year already!
The students have had a successful and productive year in the kitchen, having made 3 breakfast menus, 8 main lunch/dinner menus, 4 different breads, 4 sweets and 10 different salads! Our final menu for the year is now complete. This has been our 'Summer Sweet Treats' menu as an end of year celebration.
This menu has been all about slowing down and celebrating all of our achievements in the kitchen for the year. For this menu the children enjoyed:
On the whole, the cupcakes were very well received, even though they kind of sound “healthy”. Just as I thought, the smoothie was a hit. We modified this menu as needed, using gluten free flour for those who are intolerant and dairy free smoothies as needed. A very refreshing treat during hot days.
Finally, I would like to say an enormous thank you to all of the volunteers who have given up their time to SAKG this year. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the students grow and learn new skills in the kitchen this year and look forward to what 2018 will bring!
