Snapshot Surveys

Thank you to those people who responded to our snapshot survey seeking feedback on the Umbrella and Fan Festival.  No matter how much time, energy, effort and thought goes into organising an event, there are always ways we can improve so your comments and suggestions will be used to improve the event next time around.

As we only have a few weeks of school left, this edition’s survey has one simple question: What is the best thing about Kingswood Primary School?  I think this is a really great opportunity to celebrate the end of a fantastic school year so please let us know what we are good at by clicking here.

Community Engagement Taskforce

One of our values at Kingswood Primary School is, ‘We engage our community’ so School Council established a Community Engagement Taskforce late last year.  This taskforce has met at least once every term this year and come up with actions to foster engagement.  Our final meeting took place in November and we took the opportunity to reflect on our work, successes and learnings from 2017.  All parents were invited to attend and contribute to the plan for 2018.

I look forward to continuing our work next year and encourage everybody to attend the meetings so we can continue to build the sense of community in Kingswood Primary School.

A Little Ray of Giving

The Christmas Tree at the school office is looking very festive and we have a number of presents underneath.  If anybody would like to support this Ray White initiative, you are welcome to purchase and wrap a gift, label it with a suggested gender and age and leave it under the tree before Friday, December 15th (there are labels available from the office).  The gifts will then be collected and distributed to local organisations.

If anybody in the Kingswood Community has financial concerns at this time of the year, please feel free to contact Make a Difference, Dingley Village by phoning 03 9551 1799.  Julie Davis is the Financial Counsellor and may be able to provide some advice and support.

End of Term Tiredness

As we approach the end of term, the students start to get more tired and in need of a break.  This results in reduced abilities to manage and regulate emotions and cope with challenges.  While it is tempting to fill every warm and sunny afternoon with activities, I would encourage parents to give your children some down-time.  This will enable them to keep focused for the last few weeks.  At school, the students are encouraged to drink lots of water and eat healthy snacks.

I look forward to celebrating the successes achieved this year with you all over the next few weeks.  Kingswood is a very busy place but the progress in the students has been remarkable.  Well done and thank you to all of the students, staff and parents for your commitment and dedication through 2017.
