Education in Faith

The Sacrament of First Eucharist

We congratulate the students who received their First Eucharist at Sts Peter and Paul’s last Sunday June 23rd. It was a reverent and very special occasion for the students who were beautifully prepared, nervous and full of joy. There were many proud family members present too. Father Dean celebrated the Sacrament explaining the significance of this event in a way that was thoughtful and well explained. We thank their teachers Colleen Gilles and Joss Coaley for their dedication and contributions in preparing the students. The attendance of many of the staff at Galilee at both celebrations of the sacrament of First Eucharist at Sts P and P and OLMC, is much appreciated. Many thanks to all involved for your support of the sacramental program at Galilee.

Please let me know if your child would like to participate in the singing of an African Blessing song by Andrew Chinn (Australian Catholic singer/songwriter).

Social Justice Leader's Dog/Cat Food Drive

The Year 6 SJ school leaders, Cody and Drew are continuing to work with the other SJ leaders in the school. They have created posters strategically placed around the school to create awareness of a 'Pet Drive.' The Pet drive was inspired by Cody and his father who works for The Sacred Heart Mission. The intention is to collect food, old blankets, pet toys and other items to distribute to the homeless on our streets so they can look after their pets. These pets often provide the people who are homeless protection as well as good company. Please discuss this and any possible contributions with your family.

The pet goods can be brought to school before the end of this term and will be distributed by the The Sacred Heart Mission.

Friday Morning Prayer in Term Three

In Term Three we will be starting a Prayer Group before school on a Friday morning at 8:15 until 8:35am. All members of the Galilee school community are welcome. The objective of this Prayer Group is to pray for any needs of the school, as well as the well-being of the students, staff and families. It will be nurturing and loving. You don't need any qualifications or experience to attend. If you have a confidential prayer request,  forms will be distributed at the beginning of the term for you to fill in. Then please drop these into the box which will be on the prayer table in the Administration foyer. We look forward to The Galilee Friday Morning Prayer Group growing and flourishing.

End of Term Prayer

We thank you Lord, for this term.

We thank you for the challenges, successes and the mistakes from which we have learnt.

Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.

Give us strength and courage to do what is right and to be witnesses of our faith.

Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others and to be peacemakers in our family.

Keep us safe in our activities. Give us good rest and good fun.

Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.

We thank you for our classmates, teachers, school staff, parents and a community who care for us.

May we always be conscious of your love and presence in our lives.

We give you all the praise and all the glory.

Amen

As we complete Term Two, we wish everyone at Galilee a happy, restful and safe  holiday. God’s very best to you all!
