Magis

This weekend sees a range of important events involving Magis students including the ECU Cyber Presentation and the Tournament of Minds WA Finals on Saturday and Sunday respectively, and the British Parliamentary Debating competition. Good luck to all involved.

It was exciting to learn this week that our Opti-MINDS Year 7 Language Literature team of Hannah Johnson, Maya Mintz, Meg Cleary, Alejandra Recinos and Sara Lazareski made the WA Finals which are held next weekend at Curtin University. Meanwhile in Magis option classes this week students completed the WA Opti-MINDS Social Sciences Challenge on Masks, with some splendid presentations. Students continue to work on their personal projects whilst the next section being completed is on techniques of debating, culminating in assessment debates.

The John XXIII Chess Championship concludes this week and results will be announced in next week’s newsletter, whilst the Magis Academic Knowledge Challenge remains open for one more week. All students will then have until the end of term to complete any challenges they have missed – all of which count towards the Magis Champion Award for each year group.

Top-performing girls in Years 7,8 or 9 are invited to apply to participate in ‘Imaginarium’, an exciting gifted and talented program to be run at Perth College during the October holidays. Please come to the Magis office for further information.
