Dan Andrews Visit for the Premier's Reading Challenge

What an honour it was this morning to welcome the Premier of Victoria, and local Member for Mulgrave Mr Daniel Andrews to our school. Mr Andrews was invited to congratulate every student in the school for not only registering for the Premier's Reading Challenge, but completing it. We are extremely proud of our students for such an amazing effort and for this to be acknowledged by the Premier is something very special for our school. Mr Andrews spoke very highly of our school, staff, students and parent community and it was a pleasure to have him here . Thank you to Victoria Bruges-Cannon, Lamia Bouazza and Mel Gurpinar for organising the assembly this morning and to all the parents who were able to attend. School Review

Earlier this week the school concluded the school review process which happens every four years. The review is a very important part of the school improvement cycle which looks at many aspects of the school, but especially on students and their learning outcomes. Overall the outcomes of the review were very positive and the direction of the next fours year will be to further embed and develop the quality teaching and learning programs we currently have in place. A full report on the school review will be available early next year.

I would like to thank the parents who were involved in the forum on Monday as well as all of our students who contributed to the forums as well. Also thanks to Leasyl Richards and Katrina Spicer for the many hours spent preparing for the review, as well as Joe Doyle, Virginia Beshara, Nathan Stockton and Wendy Jarvis, part of our school leadership team who also made valuable contributions to the review process.

Class Placement Requests 2020

Thank you to the parents that submitted a class placement request over the last fortnight. These requests have been passed onto the classroom teachers who have begun forming classes for next year. Please note as part of this process, each student in the school has a chance to list 5 friends they would like to be in their class the following year. Our teachers ensure they are with at least one of these friends they have selected.

Students will find out which class they are in and what teacher they will have in a school wide transition day later in the year. Before this day the students will also participate in two "Up" transition sessions where they will spend a session in the next year level for a session in the afternoon.

Movie Night - Friday 25th October

Due to the poor weather forecast this evening (rain, hail and storms) the Outdoor Movie Night will be postponed till sometime in 2020. Thank you to all the families who supported the night by already buying tickets. The cost of your ticket will be refunded by TryBooking while the school will refund your booking fee. Please contact the office if you have any inquiries. We apologise if this has caused any inconvenience but unfortunately there is always a chance of bad weather affecting an outdoor event. Thank you for your understanding.

Melbourne Cup Holiday and Curriculum Day

Just a reminder Monday the 4th November is a curriculum day and students are not expected at school. On this day our staff will be involved in a first aid course and starting to prepare reports for end of the year. The day after is the Melbourne Cup holiday at which students are not expected at school as well. Enjoy your extra long weekend!!
