STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

Student Leadership Council

NEW YEAR, NEW SLC, NEW VOICE

The Student Leadership Council members are to be congratulated on their participation in weekly meetings, student-led assemblies, active discussions and action, such as matters regarding canteen lines congestion and safety, environment- bear pit/tree planting, Year 10 Exam week pressures for students doing more than one VCE subject and fund raisers. Currently the SLC members are working on two proposals, one to be taken to school council concerning uniform changes surrounding what to wear for each season and the wearing of PE uniforms from school period four and to school period one. The other proposal regards further follow up on canteen issues because some students believe the new balustrades are not working that well so a new canteen line up plan has been proposed by our Year 11 representatives. Plans are under way for focus groups to be involved in feedback sessions in term three concerning teachers using the explicit teaching model with emphasis from SLC leaders on learning intentions. The SLC continue to plan and implement strategies to make upcoming events for semester two successful, in particular, Jeans for Genes Day and the Color Run.

All members of the SLC have had a mid year review, seniors with Assistant Principal Mr Doherty and Mrs Andrews and Years 7-10, Assistant principal Mr Harms (semester two) and Mrs Corrie, SLC Coordinator about where they are at with their roles, where to from here and what support they might need to improve their leadership skills. We wish all members a relaxing and well-deserved term two holidays from your SLC team of teachers, Leanne Corrie, Robyn Andrews, Laura Murphy and Jenny Holt.
