There are a lot of books that have been borrowed by students and are now OVERDUE. Students are entitled to borrow two books, but if they have numerous overdue books recorded they cannot borrow.
Please have a search at home and return any library books before the end of term!
Thank you.
Last Thursday I was standing along Albert Park Lake watching our students squeal with delight from their dinghies. The water was refreshing and the sky a tranquil blue. I took a moment to appreciate how fortunate we are to be able to offer sailing to our students. I am grateful for many things today, firstly our location and that sailing can happen in our backyard. Grateful for our sponsors, our teachers who took extra time out of their day to take the students and for our Olympian friend who inspired our students to have a go at sailing. For Rosemary Cosentino for her vision to have sailing offered at SMPPS and also for supervising along with Matt Vines after school so that students could get the full 2 hour experience. Parents and parent helpers who supported the program, and last but not least the caring staff at The Boat Shed who gave our students an experience they will probably never forget and not to mention the development in skills of:
Leadership, Confidence, Teamwork, Independence, Water Safety, Self-reliance, Problem Solving and Decision making.
Tess Lloyd, our favourite Olympian made a special guest appearance at the Boat Shed and joined in on our lesson. Tess represented Australia at the Tokyo Olympics and visited our school in 2021 to share her story. Students have since been inspired by Tess’ journey to the Olympics and taken on sailing as their sport. The students were keen to see her again and had many questions after experiencing sailing themselves. We wish Tess all the best in her next competition in Europe later this year.
These events do not happen without our generous sponsors:
Community Bank Windsor and Sporting Schools.
We would like to thank Community Bank Windsor for their three-year School Support Program grant. Community Bank Windsor have committed to give the school $2500 towards the sailing program for the next three years.
With the support of our sponsors we were able to subsidise the program and offer it to our families at a reduced cost. We are thrilled to be able to offer sailing as one of our sport options in 2023 and 2024.
