“Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap
our harvest, if we do not give up. So then, while we have the opportunity,
let us do good to all” (Gal 6:9-10)

A Lenten Message

Today was the launch of the Caritas' Project Compassion with an important theme; 'For all future generations'. A fitting theme given the events occurring around the world at the moment. Bishop Greg Bennet launched Caritas' Project Compassion at St Peter's College in Cranbourne today. The launch precedes Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the period of Lent. As a school we endeavour to raise funds in support of Caritas through the Project.

Teachers use the various Caritas resources allowing students to further research and learn about the importance of Catholic Social Teaching and how we can make a difference in the world.

Tomorrow we embark on the 2022 Lenten journey by celebrating Ash Wednesday. We are once again unable to meet as a whole school and celebrate Mass but instead we will gather online and participate in an Ash Wednesday Liturgy whereby ashes will be distributed by the teachers by means of a cross on our foreheads. A tradition and reminder to 'Turn away from sin, and be faithful to the Gospel'. It is also a time for praying, fasting and almsgiving.

In his message for Lent 2022, Pope Francis invites the faithful to sow seeds of goodness, so that we might reap a harvest of salvation for ourselves and others. The Holy Father points out that “Lent invites us to conversion, to a change in mindset, so that life’s truth and beauty may be found not so much in possessing as in giving, not so much in accumulating as in sowing and sharing goodness.”

Enhancing Catholic School Identity

Every four years, Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Sale engage in a project titled 'Enhancing Catholic School Identity' (ECSI) whereby students, staff, parents and carers are invited to complete a survey to assist schools to better understand how their Catholic identity is expressed in work and practice and to support schools in their future development.

All staff, Year 5 and 6 students and some parents are asked to complete the survey to provide valuable data to be used to make future improvements at our school. Consequently, some families will be invited to complete this survey to assist our work in Catholic Identity. We hope those families chosen to undertake the survey will take the time to complete it, as it provides very valuable information to guide our practice.

A letter will be sent via email this week, to randomly selected parents/carers informing them of how to engage in completing the online survey. Should you require assistance in completing the survey, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please view the attached flyer about the ECSI Project.
