~ Do all that you do with love ~

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

It has been lovely to see parents walking their children to the classrooms once more. As restrictions continue to ease we will be able to plan for more school events in a Covid Safe way.

Parents are now able to come onsite. We kindly ask that parents please refrain from entering buildings unnecessarily. If you do have a reason to enter a classroom please show proof of your vaccination and sign the Visitor Declaration Entry Form. These are located at the front office. Students in Years 3-6, all staff and visitors are required to wear a face mask when indoors. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping to keep our school safe for everyone.

This week, we were able to hold our F-2 Assembly in the Hall. For some of our junior students, this was their first time sitting in the Hall for assembly. The Communication Team did a great job leading their first assembly and helping the Year 1 students speak in the microphone for the prayer.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Lent is a traditional season of the Catholic Church. it is a period of preparation for Easter, where Christians would traditionally fast for 40 days as an imitation of Jesus Christ's fasting in the wilderness before he began his public ministry. At School, the teachers teach about the traditions of Lent and encourage the students to either give up something or do kind deeds for the period of Lent.

Mrs Hinds has organised a lovely liturgy to celebrate this important feast day for the Catholic Church. Please read the Lenten message in this newsletter under the Religious Education section.

Swimming for students in Years 3-6 is fast approaching. This is a compulsory part of the learning at St Therese's. Please ensure your child's medical history and details are up to date on the PAM system. Parents who are concerned about their child swimming should phone the office as soon as possible to speak to myself about any concerns.

Please remember that on Friday, March 11 the School will be closed to students. On this day, all teachers will be involved in professional learning. The teachers will be learning more about how to use an inquiry approach to teaching Religious Education so that it is relevant and engaging to all students. This is the Friday of the long weekend - Monday 14th March is Labour Day and is a public holiday. I hope that you enjoy this long weekend with your children.

Please see the Dates for the Diary for other important dates coming up.

I hope you all have a terrific week!

Yours in partnership,

Michelle Bruitzman
