Well 'Twosday' was a very special day, not only was it a Palindrome day (a number or word that can be read the same way forwards and backwards 22-02-2022, a phenomenon that wont occur for another 200years ) but it was also the day students at St Louis' celebrated their Beginning of School Year Mass. God was definitely smiling down upon us on Tuesday, gifting us with a glorious day to celebrate together. Students sat with their new buddies as we gathered on the oval, (for the first time in a very long time) to give thanks and praise for a wonderful start to 2022 and  for the St Louis’ community to continue to be a place where we can all grow in faith, learning and living, striving to show the merciful message of Jesus to others every day.

Father Andrew welcomed the new preps, commissioned the staff and blessed the Year 6's as they embark upon their last year of primary schooling. I would like to share his blessing for the whole school with you so that you too can be filled with God's blessings:

During the coming year, I invite you to be beacons of hope to others.

Be encouraging, be optimistic, be helpful, be cheerful, be positive, be uplifting of others, be a good listener, be a Gospel person, and be a shining light wherever you go. May you be hope-filled people bringing life and joy through your words and deeds in our school and local community.

May our Creator God fill our hearts with hope and joy.  Amen

The students in 2BK are certainly demonstrating that they are 'Gospel People' through their daily prayer time; singing, praising, praying together and creating beautiful artefacts to honour God.

Just a reminder that this Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It’s a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection at Easter.

We pray that through fasting, almsgiving and prayer  we may be drawn deeper into the warmth and light of God's love. Ash Wednesday is one of two yearly days of obligatory fasting and abstinence from meat for Roman Catholics, along with Good Friday, the day on which we remember the death of Jesus on the cross.  We are also called to practice self-discipline and fast in other ways throughout the season.

In addition, the giving of alms is one way to share God’s gifts—not only through the distribution of money and goods, but through the sharing of our time and talents. Throughout Lent, we pray for a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ’s will more faithfully.
