House Swimming Carnival

The Senior School House Swimming Carnival was held at the Croydon Memorial Outdoor Swimming Pool on Friday 11 February, in perfect weather for an outdoor event.

Each of the Houses had a brilliant day, but Gibeon Warriors (Red House) was the most successful by claiming both the Swimming trophy as well as the Spirit trophy for 2022!

It was a close race between the Gibeon Warriors and Zion Crusaders (Blue House) throughout the competition, but Red House managed to get ahead by 40 points to claim the trophy. Tabor Trojans (White House) had some great individual performances but couldn’t hang onto the trophy as a team. The battle for the House Spirit Trophy was also very close between the three houses, with Red House just snatching it away from Blue House.

There were some great individual performances in the pool with three new records broken this year. All three records were broken by two of our Year 10 Boys, with Une Geisler (10.17) breaking his own record for U/16 Boys Breaststroke from 35.73 to 35.11. Une also broke the U/16 Boys 100m Freestyle from 1:04.08 to 1:02.12 and Ruan Rademeyer (10.17) broke the Boys Open 100m record that stood since 2005, from 1:02.67 to 1:00.33. Although Ruan is only U/16, he participated in the Open division. Congratulations to Une and Ruan for a great outcome. We missed a few good swimmers this year due to illness, but we hope to have them onboard for the Division swimming.

The event finished with a novelty event by our House Captains and Vice Captains to close off the day in great spirit. The points accumulated by each House are shown below.
