Senior School

There is much to be thankful for, as many exciting events occurred alongside exceptional teaching and learning, and I am thrilled to be part of the Oxley team. Thank you to all staff and families, including our delightful students, for a fantastic start to the year, and for weathering the COVID storm of the last few years. It is a gross understatement that life, including education, has been interrupted and we are elated so many things are returning to normal. Thankfulness abounds for face-to-face classes, many onsite events (with some restrictions), Year 10 and 11 camps proceeding as planned and the resumption of sporting events, including the return to EISM Sport on Monday 28 February.

Senior School Investiture

Senior School Investiture Assembly is an exciting occasion in the life of Oxley Christian College and it was a pleasure to formally acknowledge our leaders for 2022. It is delightful to see young people refine and develop their God-given talents by serving the school as leaders, while starting to contemplate how they might be utilised in their futures.

During the Assembly on Monday 14 February, our College Captains, Sophie Broadley-Thomson and Mattias Talpan, revealed the theme of Assurance that Year 12 students have chosen for 2022. They considered some of the most important learnings of life; the assurance we are all loved as children of God, have a purpose in God, and are part of a community working together. We congratulate all our leaders on their appointments and pray their roles challenge and mature them as God has planned.

We prayed and will continue to pray for all our leaders as they embark upon this journey for 2022, to know that they are well supported, able to appropriately juggle their various priorities and clearly know God working through them in their respective roles.

Thanks to all who participated in Swimming Sports, whether through organisation (thanks Mr Kotzé and team), swimming, helping, or encouraging on the day. It was perfect weather, had a lovely feel, and great camaraderie was enjoyed by all.

Miss Latham hosted the Year 10 Aqua Camp Information Evening online. This was well attended and loaded with useful information to assist understanding of the format and range of camp activities, while also providing support in completing the various documents required. Thank you to Miss Latham for a job well done, and to families for their participation, as students prepare to embark on what is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

My final thank you is to God, from whom all blessings flow. As a community, we have worked through a lot of changes and uncertainties together and hopefully can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Through it all, I have found it important to rely upon God for strength, direction, wisdom, patience and tenacity. He is amazing! We have enjoyed a high level of safety compared to many parts of the world and have shared an experience which will have historical significance for years to come. I am confident none of us wish to experience the like again, and I thank God for being with us, helping us to conquer fear and upholding us by His strong right hand.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
