Director's Report

Welcome to Livingston 2022

It has been lovely to meet lots of our families at Livingston over the past few weeks and finally put faces to names. Most of the children coming into kinder in the morning are happy to leave their parent and join in the kinder program. Some children may find this difficult and your child’s kinder teacher will work with you to support your child with this separation. You are welcome to come into the kindergarten with your child at drop off for 10 minutes if your teacher feels this could support your child. (Covid numbers/regulations permitting).

Any visitors into the kindergarten have to wear a mask.

You are also welcome to come and spend an hour with your child in the session as long as you are fully vaccinated and have a valid working with children check . These are free for volunteers and you can apply HERE.

Just speak to your child’s teacher about a time etc.

School Stream App

Hopefully families are enjoying viewing the photos from their child’s group that are being uploaded to the School Stream App. This provides a great opportunity for you to engage in conversation with your child about their day at kindergarten their friends, what they learnt etc. If you haven’t already - download the app, choose Livingston Kindergarten and we will approve you and assign you to your child’s group.

School Readiness Funding -

This year we have again been allocated School Readiness funding from the Department of Education.

One of the funding initiatives we applied for, for the Four year old children was

“Building Home Libraries” through Raising Literacy.

The Read To Me – Building Home Libraries (BHL) is an early years multilayered literacy program. It aims to build children’s learning capacity, oral language and literacy development. The BHL program provides services with quality picture books, craft resources and tip sheets which we give to you the families we work with.

Every 4 year old family in the program receives:

• Starter Pack of books consisting 2 books, activity books, tip sheets and play adjuncts in their own library tub

• Additional books, activity and tip sheet on a monthly basis to build your home library and encourage daily reading, singing, talking and playing.

We will be uploading the activities etc into the Home Learning section on School Stream so everyone has access.

If you have any questions or concerns about the general program or other matters, don’t hesitate to contact me at officelivingstonkinder@gmail.com
