Latest News and Reminders

Hello to everyone,

As we prepare for Kennedy Hall to be demolished, we have been required to look for alternative venues for a number of the school activities. On Tuesday the entire student population moved to the Springvale Town Hall for the 2022 Opening Mass. Following the Opening Mass the students enjoyed a BBQ lunch at the oval. Feeding 945 students is no small feat, so thanks to the maintenance, canteen and hospitality staff and the year level teams for the group effort.

The PE faculty are currently undertaking morning swimming training for the students in the inter-school competition. We wish them well.

Year 7s head off to Phillip Island for camp in a little over a week. We hope the weather at Phillip Island is favourable for all of the planned activities.

On Tuesday March 8th it is International Women's Day. This is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.  This year's theme is "Break The Bias". The inaugural International Women's Day breakfast will occur at 7.15am - 9.00am on the day at the Springvale Town Hall. Please book using the trybooking link. It is a free event, sponsored in partnership with the Greater Dandenong Council and open to everyone.

Parents are asked to speak to their daughters regarding crossing Hillcrest Grove at the intersection of Rosemary Ave. Students are running to meet parents in the Hub carpark and doing so in front of moving traffic. Please, we need students to look both ways before crossing, as one lane of traffic may be at a standstill when the other side is still moving.

We had a call from a public transport inspector, who is currently in the Springvale area, to say he counted students getting onto various buses in Springvale Road and only five of 52 tapped on and off. This is a warning, but he said penalties will be given next time. They are still operating in the local area and will be doing so regularly.

Best wishes for the coming week.

LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH WHILE YOU MAKE NEW FRIENDS

Are you too shy to talk to people because you cannot speak English very well? Well you can improve your English because Killester College runs a ‘Conversational English Class for adults’ every Monday morning at 9.30am till 11.30am during school term, for parents, family members and friends.  Classes are fun, where you are safe to try your new language skills in a friendly place. You will learn words that you may use everyday while at the same time make new friends who will encourage you to talk in English.  We also talk about things that are happening in our community.

We would love you to join us to help improve your English and at the same time have lots of fun.  Mondays 10.00am - 12.00pm in the Family Learning Centre at Killester College. Please contact Loreto Cannon at the College or via email at lcannon@killester.vic.edu.au to book.  We hope to see you there.
