Student Reflections

Manya Chhabra, Year 7, St Raka

You know how you have been waiting for a specific day for your whole life but when it comes, you start to feel like you're not ready for that day? Well, yep! You’ve guessed it, that's me. Look I gotta confess, on the holidays the only thing I talked about and thought about was..high school! My parents were sick of hearing me blabbering all day about how my life is going to change and everything will be, well…different. I’ve always been a kid who loved to learn and go to school, but when the 1st of February arrived I felt weird, like half of me wanted to go but the other half didn't. But you know what helped me to be who I really am? Remembering that life is all about making different choices, sometimes you have to do somethings that changes your whole life and it's not always easy to get used to the new everyday.

You know the most important people you always need in difficult times who can help you and guide you the right way? Friends. Friends are people who always remind you that you're not alone. Sometimes they lead you through times when you're flummoxed or disorientated. These people always lift you up from the bottom and then throw you up so high that you feel like the luckiest person in the world, and that was one of my problems..I didn't have my friends to do that, I didn't have friends I can talk to in person, we were all going to different highschools. I mean I did have my family with me, but I had already annoyed them, maybe too much..And let me tell you another tragedy, I didn’t know anyone from Killester which is what I was the most worried about.

Honestly I didn’t really want new friends but life is all about change right? So guess what the first change was? Wonder. Wonder is the reason why my social life here at Killester is going pretty smoothly, because in Wonder you have to work as a team if you like it or not, and I guess that's the whole point of Wonder. In Wonder you need to share your knowledge with your mates, you need to express yourself and I’d have to say our teachers in year 7 are pretty sneaky they totally set all of this on purpose! But whatever happened it happened for good, Wonder is officially my new favorite subject!
