Principal's Report

Message from the Principal

Great things are happening at St John's this Term. Excitement continues to grow as our new play and learning spaces take shape. The landscapers have commenced and our internal spaces are plastered and painted.

It was wonderful to welcome our grandparents and special visitors to our school last week, to share our learning and compare stories about what school was like then and now.

The Learning through Play Workshop was well attended and parents had the opportunity to explore, create and share stories through play. It was a lot of fun and inspired both teachers and parents to use play experiences to enhance the children's education.

Our Prep 2022 Information and Transition Evening was a great opportunity to showcase how we teach the curriculum at St John's. With many newly enrolled and prospective parents attending, it was an opportunity to interact with the school leaders and try some hands-on tasks. Our four student leaders also proudly shared what they love about St John's.

This week our Year 3 and 5 students will participate in NAPLAN. NAPLAN is an annual assessment, testing the types of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The tests cover skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. NAPLAN is only one sample of the various ongoing assessments that we use at St John's.

This week all of our students and parents will have the opportunity to particpate in Cyber Safety lessons and a Parent Webinar.

Inform and Empower are a Trusted eSafety Provider. It will be co-presented by an educator and psychologist, sharing practical tips and strategies in cyber safety that both parents and students can implement immediately.

This is also a timely reminder not to photograph and post pictures of other children on your personal Social Media pages.

I will be away for the rest of this week as I begin the next part of my treatment. I will be back from Tuesday 18 May onwards, if all goes to plan. Thanks for your ongoing support and prayers.

Thought for the Week

The golden rule of parenting is to always show your children the kind of person you want them to become.
