WORLDS GREATEST SHAVE

On Thursday 1st April Brookside’s Student Voice Council hosted a Crazy Hair day in conjunction with the Leukemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.  Noah Garnier of year 8 brought the event to us early in the term, explaining that he wanted to raise awareness, funds and show empathy for those affected. Noah liased with both school leadership and the Leukemia Foundation to plan the event. He then set up his online account and at our whole school assembly had his head shaved for the cause. Thank you for the time and effort you dedicated to supporting this cause and for being such a positive role model for your peers.

Students across the college also came to school with their craziest hair do’s and a gold coin donation. As part of our class by class fundraising, our Principal Ms Dellidis and Assistant Principals; Ms Meagher, Mrs Gillis and Mrs Jackson also had their hair coloured at assembly by the students. Special mention also goes to Mr Addicott who shaved his head and Ms Obremski who had a hair chop at assembly both for the World’s Greatest Shave.

Thank you to the Hands on Learning Café who held a bbq and bake sale for staff with all proceeds also being donated to the cause.  We are pleased to announce that in combined efforts as a community, Brookside College raised over $3,500. Thank you to everyone to helped make this event a day to remember.

ANZAC DAY DAWN SERVICE

On Sunday the 25th of April our College captains Oliver C and Jamie- Marie G attended the Caroline Springs Anzac Day dawn service. Together the students handmade a wreath of rosemary, which they hand cut from our ANZAC memorial garden at school. They then took part in the ceremony by laying a wreath on the memorial on behalf of Brookside College. We would like to thank them for attending this important morning.

In the lead up to ANZAC day, students across the school took part in discussions, activities and some even made Anzac biscuits as part of their school programs to acknowledge the occasion whilst at school.
