Principal's Report

Welcome to Term Two!

Before & After School Processes

One of the positive outcomes of our new normal, has been the structured and settled way, students now enter and exit our school grounds before and after school.

Can I remind parents & carers to continue to work with us on supporting this to occur moving forward, ie students enter the school grounds between 8:45-9:00am only before school each day, moving straight to classrooms.  In addition, students exit the school grounds, without playing on playgrounds, at 3:20pm each day.

Students are able to access play equipment with parent / carer supervision, once they have been collected from classrooms.

We are extremely fortunate to offer OSHC from 7:00-8:45am and 3:20-6:00pm each day, for families who are unable to meet drop off and pick up time-slots.  Please access this facility as required, by contacting the school office for further information.

STEM / Room 17

This week we welcome Mr Ben Hanson to our staff.  Ben was appointed during the term one break, to teach in Room 17, for the remainder of the school year.  Mr Loader, will be teaching in our new subject area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics).  STEM replaces performing arts for this year, which we hope will return in 2022.

School Roads

Please continue to exercise caution on our roads and where we park.  I thank you all for following temporary road closure signage and supporting us to keep the roads and families safe.

Capital Works Parent Opportunity

To all parents & carers, I will be holding some information sessions, Q&A and asking for feedback on our future direction, regarding our school expansion.

The school expansion is due for completion later this term and in term three, so it is fast approaching.

Please join me, for what I hope are most worthwhile sessions, to inform and empower us all to succeed in our 'new' school.  Change is challenging, for all of us, so I hope to share what I can to assist us all in this exciting time.

Session dates and times:

Thursday 6 May - 9:00am; and

Thursday 13 May - 5:30pm

ANZAC Commemorative Service

This Friday (weather permitting), we will again hold a whole school ANZAC Commemorative Service at our Miners Rest Cenotaph from 9:15am.

Our school community is welcome, to what is always a moving service, provided by our respectful and informed Yr5/6 students.

In the event of inclement weather, an announcement will be made by 8:30am and posted on Sentral, should it be necessary to cancel.

For school community members unable to attend Friday morning, we will be providing a digital short movie of the service in a pictorial version - it will be sent home for viewing Friday.

Please note, our regular ANZAC Day community service held on 25 April, will not run this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

School Uniform

Please ensure students are dressed in full school uniform.

Should you be unable to provide full school uniform for your child/ren, please arrange to see me for support.  It is school council policy, Miners Rest Primary School students attend school in uniform.  If you have a temporary inability to support this occurring, please provide your classroom teacher with a note.

All students must wear school uniform each and every day.

Help Wanted!

With the impending school expansion concluding, there are a number of forthcoming jobs we'd love to have your support with.  If you're able to assist me in making any of the following to occur, please respond via phone (5334 6328) or email (dale.power@education.vic.gov.au):
