YEAR 9 VIRTUAL DIRECTING WORKSHOP WITH MTC

On Tuesday 16th of March, we (Owen Mackiggan, Elsie Steele and Sandy Schluter) attended a virtual directing workshop on line led by the MTC (Melbourne Theatre Company) with the leaders, Nik Tranter and Suzie. 

It explored a range of activities geared towards directing. We learnt many things like what the tasks a director might do and the timeline a director would go through in order to create a play. The call was highly interactive, helping us share our ideas in an open environment. 

We participated in activities like creating a vision for a play that started with a story that impacted us. We also read a short script and viewed our performance through a directors point of view and then we read it again with our new feedback in place. 

It was a highly enjoyable workshop and a great opportunity that provided us with a deeper understanding of what a director’s job is.
